The Emilia-Romagna region on Monday
confirmed that work is set to start on a floating terminal for
the regisification of liquefied natural gas (LNG) off the port
Ravenna early in 2023.
The operation is part of Italy's drive to diversify its energy
supplies, in part with imports of LNG, to end its reliance in
gas imported from Russia via pipelines.
Emilia-Romagna Governor Stefano Bonaccini has been appointed
commissioner of the project for the regisification facility.
The work is expected to start early next year with the
'conference of services' involving all of the interested parties
set to be concluded in October.
