Italy's GDP rose by 6.6% in 2021 with
respect to the previous year, ISTAT said on Tuesday.
The national statistics agency said that "the Italian economy
registered growth of exceptional intensity due to the strong
recovery of productive activity after a 2020 characterized by
the effects of the health emergency".
It said domestic demand was the driving force of the increase.
Italy's GDP dropped by 8.9% in 2020.
The agency said Italy's public deficit fell from 9.6% in 2020 to
7.2% last year.
ISTAT said the debt-to-GDP ratio dropped to 150.4% in 2021 from
155.3% the previous year.
