Italy's annual inflation rate was a
whopping 3.7% in November, up from 3% in October, ISTAT said on
Wednesday.
That was slightly lower than the preliminary estimate of 3.8%
that the national statistics agency had given.
But it was still the highest level since September 2008, when
the annual inflation rate was 3.8%.
ISTAT said the price rises were driving by higher energy costs.
It said its consumer-price index was up 0.6% in November in
month-on-month terms.
It said its trolley index of everyday goods, such as food and
household items, was up 1.2% in year-on-year terms in November,
compared to 1% the previous month.
