Italy kept its place as the
world's seventh-biggest manufacturer in 2016, according to a
ranking compiled by the CSC research unit of industrial
employer's confederation Confindustria that was released on
Wednesday.
It said Italy was the second-biggest industrial power in the
European Union after Germany, which was fifth overall.
China and the United States topped the ranking.
The CSC said that Italian industry was recovering from the
crisis "despite a growth in loans to business that is still too
weak".
It added that the sector's labour costs increased 15.2%
between 2007 and 2016.
