Former ENI chief Paolo Scaroni,
the energy giant's former North Africa head Antonio Vella and
the multinational company itself were sent to trial by a Milan
judge on Wednesday over an alleged bribe paid by its Saipem
subsidiary to win an contract in Algeria of eight million euros.
Seven others were also indicted.
The move comes after the supreme Court of Cassation struck
down acquittals handed down by another court.
