Italian artisan association
Confartigianato said Tuesday that Italians paid an additional 28
billion euros in taxes compared to the EU average in 2015.
''In practice, each Italian pays an additional 461 euros a
year compared to the European average'', Confartigianato said in
a report.
And the total tax rate, which measures the amount of taxes
and mandatory contributions payable after accounting for
allowable deductions and exemptions as a share of profits, is
64.8%, ''the highest in Europe''.
A reported 86% of entrepreneurs polled by Confartigianato
also said bureaucracy is too complex compared to the 62% average
registered in the EU.
Complying with fiscal duties alone reportedly requires 269
hours a year, 92 more than the average registered in OECD
countries.
