Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti
on Thursday raised at the council of governors of the European
Stability Mechanism bailout fund the issue of Italy's recent
treatment and the EU founder nation's exclusion from important
decisions on the future of the Union, economy ministry sources
said.
The rightwing League bigwig reportedly stigmatised the
"absolutely mistaken exclusionary pact" and the "prejudicial
attitude towards our country", said the sources.
Giorgetti said he had appreciated the rport from ESM chief
Pierre Gramegna and welcomed the willingness to broaden the
ESM's horizons, but pointed out also that there is not a
majority in parliament for the ratification of the ESM treaty,
which Italy alone has yet to give the thumbs up to.
