Italy wrapped up their best-ever
European Athletics Championships with another haul of medals on
the last of Roma 2024 on Wednesday, with the sprint relay team
winning the 4x100m for Italy's 11th gold to crown their position
at the top of the medals table.
After retaining his individual European 100m title on Saturday,
Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs won gold again in the relay with
Matteo Melluzzo, Lorenzo Patta and Filippo Tortu in a time of
37.82 seconds.
On Wednesday Italy also took silver in the men's 4x400 relay and
in the women's long jump thanks to Larissa Iapichino.
Pietro Arese won bronze in the men's 1500 metres.
Italy ended the European Athletics Championships with 24 medals,
11 gold, nine silver and four bronze.
