Italian Deputy Premier and Foreign
Minister Antonio Tajani said Monday that Israel had made a
mistake and fallen into a trap set by Hamas amid international
condemnation of its strike on tents housing displaced people in
Rafah, in the south of the Gaza strip, in which dozens of people
were killed.
The Israeli army said senior Hamas officials were killed in the
strike.
"Hamas is using Rafah to create further problems, luring Israel
into a media trap," Tajani said.
He reiterated that Italy "is against" Israel staging a major
military operation in Rafah.
