Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti
on Monday said he could not rule out a supplementary budget due
to the big impact of the 'superbonus' green building renovation
scheme and to keep public accounts in line with the autumn
economic blueprint DEF so as to maintain Italy's credibility on
the financial markets.
"Closing the Superbonus season with a very heavy legacy 'in the
coming years we will have to take on the burden of paying the
debt that has been made," he said ahead of Tuesday's cabinet
meeting which is expected to approve the new DEF update, the
NADEF.
He said he cannot rule out a corrective supplementary budget, to
"respect exactly the objectives of the NADEF presented in the
autumn for a question of credibility".
But, he added, "basically we are in line" with fiscal targets.
As of 31 March, the total burden borne by the state for the
Superbonus, according to the latest monthly data, exceeds 122
billion euro.
