Premier Giorgia Meloni on Saturday
sent her best wishes to French President Emmanuel Macron on a
"tough day" for him that forced him to duck the G7 summit she
hosted by videoconference in Kyiv in order to talk at the Paris
agricultural fair to recalcitrant French farmers who are still
driving their tractors around the country in protest against EU
and national farm and green policies and general hardship.
Sources said she had sent her greetings to the French president,
on a "difficult day."
She said she had been given previous notice that Macron would be
replace at the summit by Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné.
