Italy had spend 45.65 billion euros
of the funding it has been allocated for its National Recovery
and Resilience Plan (NRRP) by the end of 2023, according to a
draft of the half-yearly implementation report.
It means that 21.1 billion euros of NRRP cash was spent last
year.
Premier Giorgia Meloni expressed satisfaction in her preface to
the report.
"The job is not done, we still have a lot to do," Meloni said.
"But the many objectives achieved so far make us proud and
encourage us to give more and more. In the interest of Italy and
of the Italian people".
The European Commission said Wednesday Italy is top in the
European Union for the number of targets met under its NRRP,
with 178 out of 527 goals achieved.
Spain is second with 121 out of 416 milestones achieved and
Croatia third with 104 out of 372, the EC said.
Italy and Spain are the two countries which have received the
biggest share of NRRP funds, made of up low-interest loans and
grants for projects to make the economy Greener and more modern.
Out of the 800 billion allotted overall to the post-COVID
recovery programme, Italy has asked for 194.4 billion and Spain
163 billion, said the EU executive.
