The steel cable of a ski lift at the
Cervinia ski resort was damaged by unknown persons, probably
with a hose, ANSA sources said Monday, in the third such
incident after two in 2015.
The Cervino SpA company, which manages the ski resort,
discovered it Monday morning and reported the incident to the
Carabinieri.
The damaged cable is on the Cielo Alto chairlift: it was not
severed, but splintered.
The chairlift remained closed all day Monday after the control
system revealed the problem in the morning.
This is not the first case in the valley at the foot of the
Matterhorn: two similar episodes had already occurred in 2015,
at Cervinia and at Valtournenche.
