Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi
has informed his Slovenian counterpart Bostjan Poklukar that
Italy has decided to temporarily activate controls at its border
with Slovenia due to recent events in Europe and the Middle
East, Slovenia agency STA quoted Ljubljana as saying.
The aim of the move is the "prevention of terrorism and
organized crime", the Slovenian interior ministry said in a
statement, according to STA.
Poklukar stressed the need for the move to be "temporary and
proportionate" to ensure that "ties of culture, friendship and
family of the people living along the border" are not disturbed,
STA reported.
