(ANSAmed) - ROMA, 09 SET - Italian sociologist Domenico De
Masi died on Saturday at the age of 85 after a sudden and brief
illness, his populist 5-Star Movement (M5S) party said.
Molise-born De Masi was a theorist of "creative idleness" and
helped create the manifesto for the M5S along with its 2009
founder, the stand-up comic Beppe Grillo, his friend, and late
co-founder Gianroberto Casaleggio. He was often called the M5S's
ideologue.
De Masi, often also dubbed "the sociologist of the workers",
made no secret of his leftwing leanings and appeared often on TV
as one of Italy's leading public intellectuals.
He was also a leading and early exponent of 'smart working'.
