Italy will not give up any of the near
200 billion euros in EU funding for its post-COVID National
Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), Economy Minister Giancarlo
Giorgetti said Monday.
"I don't want to give up anything, as the NRRP funds are
convenient," said Giorgetti, emphasising that "we have to assess
which investments are the most productive in terms of growth
capacity for the country and if some project is no longer
relevant it is our duty to review it".
Any failure of Italy would be "a blow to its image", he said,
stressing that "the European Commission also has an interest in
Italy investing and doing well.
"Let's get out of the political debate in this clash between
Italian and European bureaucracy".
