The government may use the government
bank Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) to fund moves in the
so-called 'Superbonus" case that sees many construction firms
facing potential bankruptcy, Deputy Sustainable Infrastructure
and Transport Minister Edoardo Rixi said Monday.
He said the government was considering involving the CDP to
reclaim all claims and make payments to companies.
"An intervention by the CDP is one of the hypotheses being
studied," he said.
"It is clear that whoever is in charge of public finance in a
country the first thing he or she has to do is to revoke all the
credits in order to understand how many are to be paid," he
said.
"Then the government's intention is to make payments to
companies, something that was blocked to date anyway, because
the banks no longer wanted to pay the credits, fearing for their
balance sheets."
