(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 2 - American global investment company KKR
on Thursday made a non-binding offer for the fixed network of
Italian telecoms giant TIM.
KKR, which stands for Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., presented
TIM with the non-binding offer for its fixed network, including
Fibercop and its stake in Sparkle.
TIM's board of directors will meet later Thursday to consider
the offer.
The government is 'closely following' the offer, according a
note from the transport and infrastructure ministry.
The note said the government "considers the safeguarding of
employment levels and the security of a strategic infrastructure
such as the national telecommunications network to be central".
