Premier Giorgia Meloni on Thursday blasted the "blind violence" of two deadly attacks that took place in Spain and Germany on Wednesday.
Two people were killed and several were injured when a knife-wielding Palestinian launched an attack on a train travelling between the German cities of Kiel and Hamburg.
A man was killed and other people were injured by a man who attacked them with a machete in churches in the Spanish port of Algeciras.
The Spanish authorities have said the attack, reportedly staged by a Moroccan man, could be terrorism-related.
"Brutal acts and blind violence have again hit Europe," Meloni said in a statement.
"I express my closeness and solidarity and that of the Italian government to Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez after the attacks that caused death and pain to unarmed citizens in Germany and Spain.
"We must keep up our guard against people and movements that want to destroy our societies and attack us for what we are".
