Sofia Goggia won the downhill race in
Cortina d'Ampezzo on Friday to claim the 21st World Cup victory
of her career.
The triumph puts the 30-year-old back on level terms with
Federica Brignone, who specializes in the giant slalom and
super-G, at the top of the ranking of Italian woman with the
most World Cup wins.
Goggia, who broke two fingers racing at Saint Moritz last month,
prevailed with a time of one minute, 33.47 seconds, beating
Slovenia's Ilka Stuhec into second.
Goggia's fourth victory from five downhill races this season
stretched her lead over Stuhec in the downhill ranking to 208
points.
