Premier Giorgia Meloni on Tuesday
voiced Italy's full political and military support for Ukraine
in a telephone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelensky,
the premier's office at Palazzo Chigi said.
Inviting Zelensky to Rome, Meloni's office said their cordial
conversation followed a telephone conversation that Meloni and
Zelensky had on 28 October.
Meloni renewed the Italian government's full support for Kyiv in
the political, military, economic and humanitarian spheres, in
the restoration of energy infrastructure and in the future
reconstruction of Ukraine, Palazzo Chigi said.
Meloni reiterated Italy's maximum commitment to every and all
useful action to achieve a just peace for the Ukrainian nation.
Zelensky said earlier Tuesday he had phoned Meloni and thanked
her for Italy's continued support, also with military aid, for
Kyiv's fight against the Russian invasion.
He said the two leaders discussed a peace plan and Italy's
supplying air defence systems to the missile-struck nation.
Zelensky wrote on Twitter: "Thanked @GiorgiaMeloni for
solidarity and comprehensive support for Ukraine. Commended
Italian government's allocation of additional €10 million in
aid. Mrs. Meloni informed that the issue of providing air
defense systems to protect Ukrainian skies is being considered.
We discussed #PeaceFormula"
