Italy's Thomas Ceccon won the men's
100 metres medley at the short-course swimming world
championships in Melbourne on Friday, beating off competition
from Canadians Javier Acevedo and Finlay Knox with a time of
50.97 seconds.
It is his second gold of the games after he helped the men's
4x100m freestyle team to victory with a world record time and
Italy's third following Gregorio Paltrinieri's triumph in the
1,500m freestyle.
Among other things Ceccon, 21, is also world record holder and
world champion in the long-course 100 metre backstroke.
