The province of Bologna won the top
spot in Il Sole 24 Ore's annual qualify-of-life ranking, which
the financial daily released on Monday.
It is the fifth time in 33 years that the province in Emilia
Romagna has come first after it climbed five positions with
respect to its 2021 placing.
The provinces of Bolzano and Florence came after Bologna to
complete the podium.
Italy's big metropolitan cities lost ground, with Il Sole 24 Ore
highlighting impact of the war in Ukraine and the cost-of-living
crisis.
Milan dropped from second to eighth, Roma went down by 18
positions to 31st and Turin fell by 12 to 40th.
The ranking highlighted a big North-South divide, with southern
provinces tending to fare badly.
The province of Naples, for example, dropped by eight places to
98th.
