A migrant died of hypothermia at a
medical unit on Lampedusa Wednesday, hospital sources said.
The woman was on a boat that had been rescued overnight by a
finance guard launch.
Two migrant boats arrived at a few miles from the port of the
stepping-stone island between Sicily and North Africa, sources
said, and their migrants were disembarked.
They were carrying 41 and 43 people respectively.
In the first group there were 14 women and a minor and in the
second one 21 women and five minors.
The woman's critical state of health was immediately noted and
she was rushed to the medical unit where doctors did all they
could to save her life.
