A 41-year-old Peruvian man died in
hospital Wednesday after being shot in the chest by an arrow
fired by a 63-year-old Italian artisan disturbed by a drunken
row the victim was having with a co-national in the historic
centre of Genoa Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.
The victim, Alfredo Javier Romero Miranda, died while undergoing
an operation to remove the arrow.
The artisan, Evaristo Scalco, leaned out of his window and shot
the Peruvian who was arguing with his fellow South American in
the street below.
Previously the Peruvians had remonstrated with Scalco and told
him to shut up when he asked them to keep the noise down.
Scalco was disarmed of his bow and arrow and arrested by police.
He has been charged with murder.
