A young 'African' inmate killed
himself in a Turin jail on Friday, prion sources said.
The man hanged himself in his cell around eight o'clock in the
morning, the sources at the northern city's Lorusso e Cutugno
Prison said.
He had been arrested for theft Wednesday and was awaiting a
hearing on upholding the arrest warrant.
Guards tried to revive him to no avail.
Some 70 prisoners have taken their own lives in Italy's jails so
far this year, 25 more than the same period last year, prison
warder union SAPPE said.
