Luxottica founder and
EssilorLuxottica Chairman Leonardo Del Vecchio died early on
Monday at Milan's San Raffaele hospital, sources said.
The businessman was 87.
Born in Milan, Del Vecchio moved to the province of Trento at
the age of 22 and got a job as a metalworker.
In 1958 he moved to Agordo, in the province of Belluno, and set
up an spectacle workshop.
Three years later her founded Luxottica with 14 employees and
build up it to become the world's top eyewear company.
In 2018 Luxottica merged with French group Essilor to form
EssiloLuxottica.
