A dominatrix and performer with the
professional name Lady Demonique is standing as town councillor
in upcoming elections in Como.
The 31-year-old woman, whose real name is Doha Zaghi and who has
appeared in steamy online videos, is running for former industry
minister Carlo Calenda's centrist Azione (Action) party.
"My candidacy is a signal to really understand if we have the
balls to live without prejudice and sexism and get closer to
that Europe and that America which we so much admire," she said.
"If the opposite is true Italy will only be a province of Saudi
Arabia".
Calenda, however, has said he may pull her bid to get onto the
city council in the northern lakeside city.
"If it was just private affairs, no problem, but this is
politics," he said.
