Italy's local authorities on Tuesday
sounded the alarm about their finances, which have been depleted
by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, soaring energy prices
and the costs of receiving Ukrainian refugees, among other
things.
Bari Mayor Antonio Decaro, the head of ANCI, the national
association of town and city councils, said all of the
authorities had the same concerns as Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala,
who on Monday talked of difficulties in closing the city's
balance sheet without aid from central government.
