New patents in the energy, aerospace
and mobility sectors have won the Intellectual Property Award at
the second day of prize giving at the Italian pavilion at Expo
2020 Dubai.
The patents are for alternative energy, aerospace advances and
innovations and the mobility of the future, the Italian industry
ministry said.
The Award pits Italian universities, research centres and
scientific care centres against one another, and is given out by
the ministry and Netval.
After the first day on which four patents in agrifood,
cybersecurity, green tech and life sciences got the award, on
Tuesday 15 inventions were illustrated and three patents in
their respective sectors rewarded.
The Politecnico di Milano got the alternative energy award for
its invention "Synergy, metal flow cell battery, polysulphides",
a potential boon for the management of electrical energy via
smart grids and microgrids, boosting the production of
intermittent renewable energy.
The Milan Politecnico also got the aerospace award for the
invention "HYBRIS: structural batteries for electric aircraft";
while Bologna University got the future mobility award with its
invention "Self-confident: online learning for detecting depth
sensor failures", a solution to boost the security, safety and
effectiveness of autonomous driving systems.
