Catholic Church sex
abuse victims spokesman Peter Isley said ahead of a four-day
Vatican summit starting Thursday that the Church should
implement a zero tolerance policy on priestly sex abusers and
bishops who cover up for them.
"We ask that zero tolerance be put into practise," said
Isley, who with another former victim, Peter Saunders, has
become one of the two main voices of the victims ahead of the
much-anticipated summit.
"Every guilty priest must be defrocked and also the bishops
who have covered up must be expelled from the Church," he said.
He said the victims also had another key request: that it
should be made compulsory for bishops to report abuse cases to
civil authorities.
