5-Star Movement (M5S) leader
and Deputy Premier Luigi Di Maio on Monday said he agreed with
his M5S No 2 Alessandro Di Battista on the need to cut the
salaries of TV presenters starting with Bruno Vespa and Fabio
Fazio.
"The era in which you could earn 3/3.5 million euros a year
on State TV is over," said Di Maio, who is also labour and
industry minister.
Di Maio also reiterated, like Di Battista, that it was time
to cut MPs' salaries.
"I think the time has come to give a haircut to the salaries
of politicians and also to those who are not politicians but who
are in State-owned companies, he said.
"This ia on objective of this legislature".
The M5S and other parties have previously decried the high
salaries of Fazio, who is seen as being liberal, and Vespa, seen
as being more of an establishment figure.
