Deputy Prime Minister and
Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said former leftwing terrorist
Cesare Battisti would not leave jail again after his capture and
return to Italy.
"This is an important week because finally, after drinking
champagne in Rio de Janeiro, a terrorist like Battisti is in a
jail where he will rot," the minister said during a political
rally in Oristano, a few kilometers from the Massama jail.
Battisti was taken to the jail on Monday.
"You have my pledge that you will not see this gentleman
walking around Oristano, because he will stay in jail until the
end of his days," he said.
