Former Juventus striker
and 2006 World Cup winner Vincenzo Iaquinta got two years in the
Aemilia trial into 'Ndrangheta Calabrian mafia infiltration of
the Emilian political and economic system on Wednesday, while
his father Giuseppe got 19 years.
Prosecutors had asked for a six-year term for the former
soccer player, on weapons charges.
Iaquinta senior was found guilty of mafia association.
Father and son left the courtroom shouting "shame on you,
you're ridiculous!".
Iaquinta was found guilty over two guns found in a safe at
his father's home.
Though Iaquinta had a gun permit, his father had been
banned from keeping weapons at his home.
Giuseppe Iaquinta was one of 117 people arrested in February
2015.
Vincenzo Iaquinta, 38, helped Italy win the World Cup in
2006, although he spent most of the tournament on the bench.
