The response by the environment
ministry to the TransAdriatic Pipeline (TAP) dossier has been
put off "for a few days" amid disagreement in government whether
the project should continue, sources said Wednesday.
Ministry experts were initially expected to hand in their
findings on the environmental impact of the project on
Wednesday.
The TAP, which will transport Caspian natural gas to Europe,
had been opposed while in opposition by the anti-establishment
5-Star Movement (M5S), which is now one of the two ruling
parties along with the anti-migrant Euroskeptic League.
Some M5S members of the government have recently signalled
they will allow the much-anticipated project to go ahead after
all, sparking resignation calls from the grass roots.
There has been a string of protests in Puglia against the TAP
line being built there.
