Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem "has no awareness of what is happening in Italy," Premier Matteo Renzi said Tuesday after Dijsselbloem criticised the easing of EU budgetary limits to allow growth-stoking policies.
Industry Minister Carlo Calenda also slammed Dijsselbloem. "Dijsselbloem is making a giant blunder, something which he does quite regularly," said Calenda. "He doesn't understand that the question is not budget limits, but the fact that Europe is in the middle of very difficult challenges, the first being a very clear disaffection of citizens and it needs to make a great investment plan to transform it, and a New Deal on a European level is needed".
