Some five million Italians
will get the flu this winter, the Italian society of general
medicine and primary caregivers (SIMG) said Thursday at its 33rd
annual congress in Florence.
The peak of the infection will be between the end of January
and the beginning of February, it said.
SIMG issued an appeal to get flu shots, saying 850,000
Italians had already contracted influenza by mid-October and
850,000 had been hit by acute respiratory syndromes.
