Invicta is celebrating its 110th
anniversary with a limited edition backpack, profits from which
will be donated to the Italian NGO Emergency.
The backpack will be a leather, handmade version of the
model that Treccani named one of Italy's 90 'icons' of history
and fashion.
Only 110 pieces of the 'Jolly 110 Limited Edition' will be
available and proceeds from online purchases will go to
Emergency's humanitarian activities in the Goderich pediatric
center in Sierra Leone.
Although they started out as an accessory targeting the
very young in the 1980s, Invicta backpacks soon became a trendy
item for free time activities, sports and travel for an entire
generation.
Invicta was founded in England in 1906 to produce bags and
arrived in Italy in 1906 in Turin's Borgo del Fumo. In 1939,
Invicta invented and patented the modern fanny bag. Over time,
through its experience with mountain climbing and exploring, it
began to broad its range of products and offer sunglasses,
berets, ski bags and other outdoor accessories.
In the 1980s, it and its Jolly backpack became a must-have
item for entire generations of youths and a social and fashion
phenomenon.
Invicta then began producing clothing, shoes and
accessories for leisure activities, becoming part of the Gruppo
Seven in 2006.
Some of the 110 limited edition backpacks will be donated
to people who have contributed over time to the brand's success
and others will be available for purchase on the Invicta website
starting on August 24.
All proceeds will go to the Italian NGO Emergency to
support its activities in the Goderich pediaric center in Sierra
Leone, one of the poorest countries in the world.
