At least half of Italy's lakes are
polluted, Legambiente environmentalist organization said in a
report out Monday.
Legambiente said 50% of the 200 samples it took from 12
lakes in six different regions over the course of 22 hours and
108 kilometers of navigation were above the legal limit for
fecal matter and microplastics.
The monitoring campaign kicked off Sunday June 26 at Lake
Iseo near Brescia and ended July 24 at Lake Trasimeno near Rome.
