(see related)A Rome mayoral
candidate was arrested in the act of committing aggravated
robbery in December 2013, the parliamentary anti-mafia
commission said Tuesday.
The unnamed candidate is not on a list of 14
'unpresentables' the commission believes to be unfit to seek
public office due to their organized crime connections or
activities.
Another candidate, the commission said, is married to a
lawyer who is serving nine years six months for corruption
conspiracy and participating in the mafia.
Yet another candidate turns out to be related to the
Gallace clan of the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta mafia, according to
the commission.
It did not reveal their names.
