House Speaker Laura Boldrini
on Monday called on the EU to rethink its approach in the wake
of the electoral success of the far-right, anti-immigrant
National Front (FN) in in France at the weekend.
"If we stand still we will be doing a favor to those who
would disintegrate the EU and all that we achieved in the past
60 years," Boldrini said at the European Parliament, where she
delivered EP President Martin Schulz and EU foreign minister
Federica Mogherini a document signed by the speakers of nine
parliaments calling for more EU political integration.
"The time for efficient action has come - we need an EU 2.0
that will rethink its economic policy," Boldrini said.
