House OKs special court sections for asylum appeals

Italy trying to speed up migrant processing

(ANSA) - Rome, October 28 - The Lower House on Wednesday approved measures to set up special sections in the nation's courts to deal with an avalanche of appeals against rejected political asylum claims.
The country is laboring to rescue, process and host hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing war, persecution and destitution in Africa and the Middle East.
The first landfall for most asylum seekers crossing the Mediterranean in often unseaworthy boats is either Greece or Italy, depending on where they leave from.
