Italian-American automaker
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will produce over 900,000
vehicles in 2015 and well over a million in 2016, group chairman
John Elkann said Thursday.
"I am particularly pleased that FCA is one of the most
environmentally friendly companies in the world," added the
39-year-old scion of the Agnelli family that founded Fiat.
Elkann's comments came against the backdrop of a global
scandal over recent revelations that German carmaker Volkswagen
had been cheating on emissions tests in the United States.
Elkann also said the sight of Pope Francis travelling in a
Fiat 500L during his visit to the US was "a source of great
pride".
