Requests for penile enhancement
procedures such as enlargement and lengthening rose 20% in 2014,
with the principal demand coming from young men between the ages
of 18-35 years old, according to a report released on Friday by
Doctor Giovanni Alei at a conference on male sexual health.
Alei, director of the male genital surgery center at
Policlinico Umberto I Hospital in Rome and president of the
Italian society of male genital surgery, is a leader in new
surgical techniques known as "mini-invasive" procedures for
lengthening and enlarging the penis.
The lengthening procedure involves insertion of a silicone
spacer, while the enlargement procedure uses a combination of
human skin and lyophilized pigskin, which Alei said "yields
excellent results".
Alei said the procedures increase penis size by 25% to 30%,
and that 500 of the lengthening and enlargement procedures have
been performed to date.
The procedures impart "the confidence to pursue a normal
social life," Alei said.
