Italy's big-selling Catholic
newspaper Famiglia Cristiana on Friday slammed the country's
newly passed quickie divorce law.
"We can not consider the approval of the fast divorce law
as an achievement of civilization; today, both spouses, children
and the community all are poorer and more alone, in a false
freedom, which becomes a solitude increasingly abandoned", the
publication said, adding "it is not a solution but an escape".
Earlier this week, the Italian parliament passed a law
reducing the time it takes to get a divorce to six months from
three years.
