The manager of third-tier
Arezzo, Ezio Capuano, was unrepentant Tuesday after saying he
would not stand having "queers" on the field after a defeat
Sunday.
"One of Italy's greatest coaches, Marcello Lippi, once said
he didn't want to see any 'little women' flouncing around, and
my comment was in the same vein," Capuano said.
"In any case I apologised to my centre forward," he added.
Capuano said after Sunday's home loss to Alessandria
Sunday: "I want players with balls and I don't want to see any
queers on the pitch".
He added Monday: "I didn't mean to offend anyone but I'm
not going to apologise.
"I'm not homophobic, racist or sexist," Capuano said.
