(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 8 - Former Italian Golden Boy Matteo
Manassero returned to top form in South Africa Friday carding a
career-best 11-under par round of 61 to lead the Jonsson
Workwear Open by one stroke over local boy Oliver Bekker at -15
to -14 at the halfway mark.
The 30-year-old from Veneto notched two eagles and seven birdies
in a bogey-free round that helped him leap 19 spots in the DP
World Tour event.
"I couldn't be happier than I am today, but the road to be
travelled is still a long one and I don't like looking
backwards, but forward, with the aim of always getting better,"
said the former enfant prodige of Italian gold, the youngest
winner of a DP World event at the age of 17 in 2010, when he won
the Castello Masters in Spain. (ANSA).
