(ANSA) - Rome, October 1 - Italy's Francesco Molinari made
golfing history by winning all five of his matches at the Ryder
Cup to drive Europe to a victory over the United States at the
weekend.
Molinari, who became the first Italian to win a major when he
triumphed at the Open Championship in July, won all four of his
matches with partner Tommy Fleetwood on Friday and Saturday.
At his victory over Phil Mickelson in the singles was the one
that gave Europe the 14 1/2 points they needed to win the trophy
on Sunday.
"So much more than Majors, more than anything," Molinari
said.
"It's been an incredible week. Obviously they had probably
the strongest team ever and were just so good.
"I just try to do things, be professional and obviously I had
an amazing partner in Tommy.
"Never felt like I had a rookie playing alongside me.
"It's been the best I've been a part of. I said it at the
beginning of the week, we gelled as well as ever and just
incredible, every single one of the players".
