(ANSA) - Potomac (US), July 2 - Francesco Molinari has scored
another historic victory.
The Italian golfer won the Quicken Loans National and
conquered the first title of his career on the PGA Tour.
An Italian (although naturalized American) had not won a
title in the top US circuit in 71 years.
Naples-born Toney Penna, who grew up in Harrison, New York,
last won the Atlanta Open in 1947.
It was an extraordinary victory for the Piedmont native in
Potomac, Maryland, where he dominated the last round finishing
at 21-under 259 (67 65 65 62, -21), 8 shots ahead of American
player Ryan Armour (second with 267, -13).
Tiger Woods came in fourth (269, -11).
