(ANSA) - Rome, July 16 - Italian golfer Francesco Molinari
was in top form after winning the Quicken Loans National,
finishing second at the John Deere Classic. The Italian golfer
ranked second at the tournament of the PGA Tour won by Michael
Kim with a 27-under total of 257 (63 6464 66, -27).
It was the first success on the top US circuit for the South
Korean golfer (naturalized American), who celebrated his 25th
birthday in the best way possible.
He also got his pass for the 177th edition of the Open
Championship (July 19-22 in Scotland), the third seasonal major.
The Seoul-born player won the tournament by a record-setting
eight strokes ahead of US players Joel Dahmen, Sam Ryder and
Bronson Burgoon (265, -19) who finished second together with
"Chicco" Molinari.
Molinari conquered his latest prestigious finish and will
pursue a major triumph in Carnoustie.
It was a grand final for the Piedmont-native, with 7 birdies
and no bogey.
With this result, the Turin champion conquered the 27th
position from his previous 43rd placement of the FedEx Cup of
the US Tour, de facto conquering a place in the end-of-season
play-offs.
In Scotland, key points will also be at stake ahead of the
Ryder Cup on September 28-30 in Paris and the 2018 Race to
Dubai.
